Technical support / Re: Price List Reports

When you say you’re trying to create a list, do you mean that you’re trying to create a custom report with the report editor, or just trying to print one of the reports?  Also, are you using High Sierra or an earlier version of the Mac OS?

I want to create a list of coins I want to sell.  I want it to list the date, mint, condition and current value.  Whenever I try to create such h a list, either by placing the coins in a bin or by printing a list of coins with a "sell" value, the current value does not appear - all I get is 0.00.  How do I create such a list and where in any documentation does it tell me the steps to take?  I'm using the Mac program.  Thanks.

One further tip. After you have selected all the coins you want to track, you have to click the little "track" box which is just above the large "notes" box, a red check mark will then appear in the track column in the database area at the top half of the window, denoting that they are now tracked. The "series editor" is found by then going back to the actual series of coins list then right clicking on the series in question, in my case Seated Liberty Half Dollar W/O Motto. Clicked on "moved tracked coins here" in the right click menu and voila, they magically appeared.
I am back in business!!! :)

The pricing page automatically sorts by Year, then Mint and then Variety.  This is done so that if you add a new column you don’t have to manually insert it in the correct order to move it yourself.  In some cases, though, that may not be exactly what you want.  We ran into the same thing in the Presidential Dollar series; we don’t want the 2007-D James Madison to come before the 2007-D Thomas Jefferson.  In that case, we wanted the presidents to be listed in the order they served.  So, we added their numerical order to the beginning of their name (i.e. “1: George Washington”).  If you can provide an example of three or four Year/Mint/Variety entries, I’m sure we could figure from that how best to address your question.

The new structure for the Seated Halves a while ago does cause a bit of a stir for this reason; we really should have subdivided it right from the start but nearly 20 years ago when we laid out that structure, we did not envision that the database would expand so much and grow to this level.

Anyway, the tracking function can be used to move these coins to the new subcategories.  To do this, mark as tracked all of the coins to be moved (place a check in the box labeled “Tracked” on the coins page).  If you sort the coin grid by date, all of the coins to be moved will be consecutive so you can select the whole range of coins and click the “Tracked” checkbox once to check them all (if you want to get fancy).  Once that’s done, just right-click (on the series editor) on the series that you want to move those coins to; in the menu that appears is an option labeled “Moved tracked coins here” and that will do what you want.

If that sounds complicated, I would be happy to walk you through it over the phone if you wish.  Our number is (707)987-4499

Hi, I'm getting back into using my EC database after being away for about a year and a half(?). The current version has Seated Liberty Half Dollars broken into 3 sub categories 1839-1866, 1853 and 1866-1891. When I moved my old files onto a new computer with latest version of EC, it dumped my entire Seated Half database into the third sub category, 1866-1891. Help, how do I move the proper date ranges into the proper sections? TIA  :) PS, this is on a PC running Windows 10. EC 64 Bit, version

Hi, I would like to create the entire Colonial NJ Copper Maris number database in EC. I started to do it in the Colonial section under NJ Nova Caesarea section, using the pricing window. It didn't work very well, by the 7th variety entered, it started to get out of order, and I can't seem to be able to move the individual lines on the NJ page, to re-order it (cut/paste). So, I stopped.  What would be the recommended procedure for creating this database in date and Maris variety order? There are around 60 varieties?  TIA  :)

There are actually three types of updates you can download; program updates, price list updates and image updates.  Rather than lumping these all into one download option, we separated it so that you can have more control over what you want to download.  For example, some people who've made a lot their own of changes to a particular price list don't want to download our price list and have it overwrite theirs.  There are so many images that it can take a while to download them, especially if your internet connection isn't great.  Therefore, you may want to download a new version of the program without having to, at the same time, download gigabytes of image data.

Anyway, it sounds like you downloaded the program update but what you'll need to do to see the 2018 data is download the current price lists.  In the "Tools" menu, under "Check for updates", select "Download current price lists".  If you download images, you'll get the images of the 2018 coins.  All of the 2018 coins currently in the database (from any country) are imaged in the image library.
U.S. coin collecting / Newest coins - why no way to enter?

This is probably a simple thing with a simple answer, but I can't see any way to enter stuff like 2018 silver eagles or 2018 America the Beautiful coins. I have downloaded the most recent update, but that does not seem to have corrected this. I don't see how one can enter anything minted after 2017. Also, on an unrelated matter, I was entering some modern US commemorative coins into the program, and some of the silver dollars were minted in both proof and uncirculated but with the same mint mark. These however seem to be included under the same entry, unlike years where proof and uncirculated commemorative coins had different mint marks. A feature or a bug?
