U.S. coin collecting / Re: Newest coins - why no way to enter?

2018 is listed in the mint and proof sets; I just downloaded the price list and confirmed that.  So, I’m wondering if, when you’re downloading the price list and it pops up with the list of countries, do you have United States checked in the list?  It remembers your previous selections and defaults to that, so if it got unchecked along the way, that’d basically be turning of updates to that particular price list.

I also have the new 2018 coins to enter and I have done the updates (All Three).  I cannot find any 2018 in the Mint sets category under US coins.  The Field still says 1947 - 2017. Is there something else I should do to get the 2018 to show?

Here is one for those out there that take photos of all their coins, obverse and reverse. This one is less for printing out (as it would take a lot of ink on a good printer) and more for a PDF of your collection. All the details that I find important are surrounding the images of the coin in the following layout.

Center: Obverse Photo, Reverse Photo
Top Left: Year, Type, Mint Mark
Top Right: Mintage, KM#
Bottom Left: Size
Bottom Middle: Metal, Metal Content
Bottom Right: Inventory#

In the attached images you can see examples of how it lays it out on for each individual coin and how it lays it out on the page. (I tend to photograph my coins on a cotton bullion bag which is why there is the weave pattern under the coins in the photos.) A lot of room for improvement on this one, but it is an easy and organized way to have photos of all your coins on you when at a show. Possibly to add in the future is the weight above the size, the grade/value above the inventory number, and variety at the top somewhere. But it is now yours to play with!
Technical support / is a 64-bit Mac version under consideration
« Last post by csiemen on April 20, 2018, 05:59:55 PM »
Now that Mac OS X is starting to tease us about 32-bit apps, is there thought to creating a 64-bit version of Exact Change? Happily running on High Sierra.

Thanks for a great piece of software!

Development and feedback / Share Your Custom Reports!

Reaching out to the ExactChange community...everyone share your reports! Did you make a custom report that you use all the time or that you find extremely useful that maybe someone else will benefit from as well? Share it here and let everyone enjoy your hard work and talent! While the included reports are helpful, the Report Press is quite powerful and is included with the software to customize reports for more specific or more general needs that we may have.

To start this off, attached is a report that I have been working on. This report mixes a pricelist, a checklist, and grades owned all into a single report that is compact (meaning the text might be small for some) and dual column so the page count can be limited. First the coins are sorted by series so that you can do a whole collection, specific country, specific denomination, or specific series report. Then it is sorted by year, mint mark, and variety under each series. To the left of the year is a checkmark if you have the coin in any grade and nothing if you still need it. To the right of the year is the highest grade of the coin that you have. Beside that are the prices for the most common grades in my collection (VG8, F12, VF20, EF40, AU50, MS60, MS62, MS63, MS64, and MS65). Within each "price box" is the number of coins in that grade that you have. Then to top it all off, there is a slick gradient behind it all and a dotted rule underneath to separate each row. My purpose for this report is to bring to coin shows as a quick reference of what I have/need and their current book value.

Give it a look and let me know what you think can be added to make it even more useful! And please share what you have created!

I'm here all day and will be here until around 3am; call any time at (707)987-4499.  We don't have a message about the program not being optimized so I would imagine that's actually a message from another program.

Agree that a phone conversation may be more helpful, but our ability to connect at appropriate times seems to be problematic.  Additionally, I have just now opened my file and got a notice that my "program was not optimized".  Has there been an update and if so, what's the link to download it.  Thanks.

In the first image below, I’ve circled the “Value” column (though I don’t know if this is the same report you’re looking at)  Are you just not seeing values in that column or are you also not seeing values on the “Coins” page (the value circled in the second image)?  I’m not seeing an issue with the values field on the report but it won’t show a value if the coin doesn’t have a value on the “Coins” page.  For example, if a coin doesn’t have a grade assigned or if that coins price is based on melt value but the melt value has not been set (these are just a couple of examples) then the program would not have all the information it needs to assign a value.  I think it’d be easier to get to the bottom of this if we spoke via phone; I’m available at (707)987-4499 if you’d like to do that.

I'm using High Sierra.  I'm trying to use one of the "canned" reports because I couldn't/wouldn't believe that such a report would not already be in the toolbox.  If I need to create a custom report, I remain clue free about how to go about getting what I want/need which is a listing of coins I want to sell, by year, mint, condition, and current value.  I can get everything I want except the value for each coin comes out as "0.00".
World coin collecting / Venezuelan Bolivar revaluation
« Last post by Wild Man on March 23, 2018, 09:31:04 PM »
Yesterday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announce that Venezuela will revalue the Bolivar at a rate of 1000 to 1, basically just chopping three zeros off any monetary figure.  The new notes, which should begin circulating on June 4th, are intended to address that country’s hyperinflation.  Had he consulted Exact Change, he’d have seen many instances where this has been attempted but led only to further inflation (for example, Turkey, Greece, Zimbabwe and, yes, Venezuela).  The current exchange rate for the Bolivar is .0020 cents.
